A Bit About Coach Henry

Coach Henry is originally from Santa Cruz, Bolivia. He grew up with playing soccer, street soccer, and futsal. His house was located next to the soccer filed called “Los Troncos”, where he spent most of his free time as a child. He played for Tahuichi Soccer Academy, a prestigious youth academy recognized worldwide. He came to the United States at the age of 15 through an exchange student/athlete program.

Coach Henry struggled the first years in the US without his family and friends. He did not speak English and found the culture to be different. He was lucky to be placed with an American family that took care of him as their own child. Coach Henry used soccer as a vehicle to meet new people and obtain a scholarship for college. He is now married and have two children. Oliver is his oldest child and plays for the 2011 Houston Dynamo Catalyst Team and for Heart and Sole Futsal Academy. Anabel is 2013 and just started with Heart and Sole.

When Oliver turned 5 years old, Coach Henry looked everywhere in Ohio for Futsal. He called different clubs, and they did not even know what futsal was. He finally got a hold of Otto Orf, current Assistant Coach for the United States Men’s National Futsal Team. Otto was the Futsal Director of the region at the time and he offered Coach Henry two options: “I help you start your own club, or you partner up with me.” Coach Henry did not think twice, and he and Coach Otta started working together in 2016.

Work Experience

2016

2020

2021

We took a “winter sport” that was only played December through February to a 12-month futsal program. We associated with US Youth Futsal and competed in Regional and National Championships.

It was a pleasure to see players from Heart and Sole being selected for the US National Youth Teams. Coach Henry and his family moved to Houston in September of 2020.

Heart and Sole Futsal Academy of Houston opened to the public in February of 2021. The sport is still new to most people, but it is rapidly growing and kids are loving it. Coach Henry formed and trained a 2011 team to compete at the US Youth Regional Championship and became champions on the first year. The team is now preparing to compete for the US Youth National Championship in Kansas City in July of 2021.
